We Treat Common Aesthetic and Dermatologic Skin Concerns

Facial Veins (telangiectasia)

Telangiectasia are broken or widened small blood vessels that sit near the surface of the skin which create a visible pattern of unwanted lines or a blush-like appearance. They often occur in fair- to medium-skin tone individuals with long-term sun damage or hormonal changes and can range in color from red to blue or purple. The most common areas of occurrence are the face, nose, chin, and cheeks.

Leg Veins

Unwanted leg veins that appear on the surface of the skin usually include spider veins or reticular veins. Spider veins are small red, blue, or purple veins within the layers of the skin that do not protrude above the skin surface. Slightly larger blue-green veins that also do not protrude above the skin are known as reticular or “feeder” veins. These types of veins are good candidates for superficial laser treatment.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a condition that causes redness and often small, red pus-filled bumps on the face. It can occur in anyone but most commonly affects middle-age women with fair skin and those with a family history of the condition. Skin affected by rosacea also tends to be more sensitive and easily irritated, therefore daily sun protection is essential.

Port Wine Stains

Port wine stains are a type of vascular birthmark that appear most often on the face, head, arms or legs but they can appear anywhere on the body. These marks are rarely harmful and they typically do not hurt or itch but may become thick and raised over time. Port wine stains and their vessels vary in size and color – the birthmark may first appear as pink to light red and progressively become darker, turning purple or a deep red. Fortunately, laser treatment settings can be adjusted to appropriately treat different variations of this vascular lesion.

Scars

A scar is an area of fibrous tissue that replaces normal skin after an injury or a surgical procedure.  Newer scars typically have a pink to red appearance and are ideal for scar reduction laser treatment – older scars may be treated as well but may take more sessions for optimal results. Additionally, if a scar is from a recent surgical procedure, always check with the surgeon prior to starting treatment on fresh scars.

Benign Pigmentation (sun spots)

One of the most common skin concerns is pigmentation due to excessive sun exposure that appears over time. These areas of unwanted brown spots are called lentigines and may be stubborn to respond to lotions and creams. Laser light is absorbed by superficial pigment cells which darken and flake off over a couple of weeks. Laser treatment is a safe and effective way to remove lentigines for more even skin tone and a restored youthful appearance.

Unwanted facial and underarm hair

Shaving can cause razor burn and ingrown hair, which seems to grow back over night, especially for anyone with dark, coarse hair. Fortunately, laser hair removal can eliminate these issues. The laser targets pigment within the hair to prevent re-growth and leaves surrounding skin unharmed. Most patients can see a noticeable difference after just two sessions.

Acne (mild to moderate)

The Excel V is appropriate to treat mild to moderate inflammatory acne on the face only. Severe, cystic acne lesions would require a consultation with a dermatologist and may require oral medication for safe and effective treatment. Additionally, the Excel V is only appropriate to treat lighter skin types, as darker skin types may have adverse reactions when treating facial acne. The laser works to decrease inflammation and even out skin tone.

Fine lines and wrinkles

After many years of sun exposure, the collagen and elastin are broken down in the skin and can leave it looking dull and tired. Laser Genesis is a quick, no-downtime procedure to improve skin’s overall complexion by activating collagen remodeling to reverse the signs of aging and sun damage. A series of four to six treatments are recommended for optimal results and ongoing maintenance treatments are encouraged to sustain results over time.

Botox® and cosmetic fillers help to complement and enhance laser treatment to restore a youthful appearance. Botox® is the most popular cosmetic procedure performed in the United States and is FDA-approved as a fast, safe and effective way to soften facial lines and reduce unwanted wrinkles. When administered correctly by a trained professional, Botox® is an essentially risk-free, non-invasive method to attain smoother skin and lessen the appearance of wrinkles from the face for a younger appearance. Botox® works by gently relaxing the muscles that form facial wrinkles in the forehead, glabella (between the eyebrows) and on crow’s feet around the eyes.

Cosmetic fillers, such as Juvéderm, instantly smooth away deeper lines along the sides of your nose and mouth. Natural-looking results can last up to one year with optimal treatment. You can expect smooth, younger-looking skin that you’ll be comfortable in. This product helps with problem areas like parentheses lines, corner lines, vertical lip lines and marionette lines.

Excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis)

Hyperhidrosis is a common condition of excessive sweating of the underarms and may also affect the hands and feet. Heat and emotions may trigger hyperhidrosis in some, but many who suffer from this condition sweat nearly all the time, regardless of mood or weather. Botox injections to the underarms has been FDA-approved for treating this unwanted condition and has been shown to last 4 to 12 months. Studies have shown that repeated treatment with Botox is safe and effective and consistently results in long-lasting improvements in symptoms, daily functioning and quality of life.
